What is Organic Konjac?

Organic konjac is a plant grown under stringent organic farming conditions, requiring high standards for both the production environment and the cultivation process.

Environmental requirements

Organic konjac has very high demands on the production environment. Organic farms must have good environmental conditions, with unpolluted air, soil, and water sources, and the land needs to be organically maintained for over three years. Before planting organic konjac, the farm will first test the soil and water quality to ensure no pesticide residues, heavy metals, or other pollutants.

Cultivation requirements

  1. Do not use any chemical fertilizers to damage the soil. Instead, organic fertilizers such as straw, livestock manure, and biogas slurry are used.

  1. No chemical pesticides are used for pest and weed control. Physical methods such as crop rotation, intercropping, insect-proof nets, and manual pest control are employed. Weeding is done manually or minimized as much as possible.

  1. Choose organic konjac root to ensure they are free from any chemical residues during growth.

Harvesting

The konjac is harvested, cleaned, dried, stored, and transported without any chemical contamination, the entire production process is documented in detail.

Organic konjac noodle processing

The processing of organic konjac noodles strictly follows organic food processing guidelines, with no addition of any chemical additives like sulfur dioxide.

The processing steps for organic konjac noodles are: Fresh konjac corms – washing and peeling – slicing – drying – grinding into powder – removing impurities – blending homogeneously – organic konjac powder – ingredients (organic konjac powder, water) – stirring and puffing- refining – noodles forming – soaking – packaging – sterilization – finished product.

Differences between organic konjac noodles and regular konjac noodles

Cultivation method: Organic konjac noodles are made from organically grown konjac powder, while regular konjac noodles use conventionally grown konjac powder.

Processing: Organic konjac noodles do not add any chemical substances during processing, giving them a brown color like the surface of a cut apple. When cut open, they darken due to enzyme-induced browning. Regular konjac noodles often have sulfur dioxide(under the food law standard) added to prevent enzymatic browning, resulting in a white color.

Health Value: Organic konjac noodles retain more natural nutrients and are healthier.

Benefits of Organic Konjac for the Environment:

Environmental Protection: It helps reduce soil erosion, water pollution, and ecosystem damage.

Sustainability: It supports soil ecosystems, contributing to soil health and agricultural sustainability.
